Hello and thank you for choosing Agri-Geuna® products.
Your choice helps enhance a land that has been shaped by history over time and is only now developing.
We are at the foot of the Monviso, affectionately called the King of Stone (a name given to it because of its shape). History records it as the trademark of the historic American film company Paramount.
Skeptics say that all mountains are the same, but if even Giovanni Agnelli, flying over the Alps, was fascinated by it, thinking of the perfection of the lines of the Monviso, there must be a reason.
The Monviso seems to "attract" the mists of the plain, very often appearing enveloped in fog. It dominates the entire Alpine arc of southern Piedmont and the plain below (which is also why it is nicknamed king). This wonderful mountain is also famous outside the region because the Po River, the longest in Italy, rises at its foot. The summit is located entirely in Italian territory. Not far from its slopes is the Buco di Viso, which was the first Alpine tunnel in history. It was built to facilitate trade between the marquisate of Saluzzo and France.
One of the best-known legends is that of Hannibal and his army crossing it.
To bring up another pillar of our literature: Virgil, in Book X of the Aeneid, compares Massentius to a wild boar from the Monviso.
Many important historical events started in its presence, the perfect example being the Unification of Italy: of an Italy as diverse as it is rich in all its parts, in its people, its food, its landscapes, its culture, its air; of an Italy that the world envies us for.
The story of Agri-Geuna® draws its origins from my paternal great-grandparents, who cultivated the land between the plain and the mountains, in the territory of Bagnolo P.te (the last town in the province of Cuneo on the border with the province of Turin). The connection to the land is the key to many of our choices. The territory offers the opportunity to be at high altitude in no time to breathe breathtaking 360° panoramas that embrace the Alpine arc, the plain below delimited by the Turin hills… Panoramas that are different every day; every day they bring different emotions; every day they make your imagination take flight.
The land is a fundamental asset for us today, but also to safeguard the future world, and that is why we chose the organic certification Agri-Geuna® joined the Slow Food community “dal Bracco al Viso” because it believes in good, refined food, made with love, and in the small businesses of our area. Knowing the territory leads to rich discoveries to share with everyone.
